What is an OG image?
The Open Graph (OG) image is the picture that appears when your link is shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, iMessage and most other apps. It is set with a <meta property="og:image"> tag, and in WordPress your SEO plugin usually fills it from the featured image.
Tips for a card that gets clicked
- Keep the title short. Under about 60 characters stays legible in small previews.
- Use high contrast. The themes here are tuned so text passes contrast checks at thumbnail size.
- Stay inside the safe area. Some apps crop the edges, which is why the layout keeps generous margins.
- Use 1200×630. It is the most widely supported ratio (about 1.91:1).
FAQ
Where do I use the downloaded image?
Upload it as your post's featured image, or set it as the social image in your SEO plugin (Yoast, Rank Math, SEOPress and others all have a field for it).
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The card is drawn on a canvas in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
Can I share my settings?
Yes - the page address updates as you type, so you can bookmark it or send the link.
